Dry or Standard Containers are the typical container choice for products with standard packaging. They are called ‘ dry ‘ because they keep the products dry as they are shield from all sides and the top. The containers are opening only from one side using a double door method. The rest of the sides and the top are fixed.

The most common dimensions for dry containers are:

  • 20feet
  • 40feet
  • 40feet high cube
  • and in some occasions 45feet

It is important for a company which is planning to start exporting using sea or rail cargo to know the dimensions of each container type in order to manage to add in the containers that maximum possible product quantity. This is an important element in the competition as the lower transportation cost results in less delivered added cost to the selling unit. In simple terms, the cheaper the delivered cost to a destination the more competitive the product can be in cost estimations.

Bellow we are listing for your reference information about the dimensions per container type in metric and imperial size. These dimensions are only listed to give you an idea. They are very close to the general standards that exist for these container types but before making any precise calculations for your products it is good to communicate with some freight agents or shipping lines in order to get the exact dimensions of the containers you will be using.
